Four Steps for Setting a Healthy Boundary

Do you know the four steps needed to set a healthy boundary and bring out your best? Boundaries are not just used with people. Being able to set a healthy boundary empowers you to take responsibility for some aspect of your life and determine what matters most in life. Boundaries are a way to begin living your life without resentment towards yourself or towards other people. (1.) Setting a healthy boundary begins with an awareness. This awareness tells us we need to honor something and create the motivation for self-protection (2.) Next, identify what your reason is for setting this boundary. What is your intention for doing this? Determine what you want. (3.) Then, step up and honor your boundary. Honoring your boundary supports your vision for being true to yourself and authentic. (4.) Finally, deep in your heart and soul, you want to know and feel that this is important to you. If this healthy boundary is that important, you will radiate confidence, and respond with genuine respect for whatever you need to protect yourself from. Setting healthy boundaries is how integrity serves you. What was the last healthy boundary you set for yourself that boosted your self-esteem and gave you inner strength?

I've found that it's very important for people to figure out where they end and other people begin. To establish good boundaries it helps greatly if we first know ourselves: our wants, our needs, our talents, our areas that need improvement. People frequently lack strong boundaries because they don't yet know who they are.

I agree with you, knowing more about yourself is the place to begin to understand how to set boundaries. Setting boundaries protect you, so you can begin living without resentment, anger or frustration. Boundaries are not only about people...they are created to help you make healthy choices with your food choices....with exercising habits....with finding and developing respect from friends and strangers.....and the list is endless. True? What boundaries do you need to create to find greater happiness and take back your personal power... for yourself?
