Did you know there are five actions you can do that will make your communcation simple? The actions are requests, promises, declarations, assessments and   assertions. When making a request you seek the help of someone that you think may help help you. The request envisions a future action from that person. When promising you are competent and sincere about following-through with what someone has asked of you. When making a declaration, you make a commitment to doing consistent behavior that supports shaping your life... to be able to live more peacefully and relaxed. When you make an assessment of something, you make statements that are ungrounded truths that are based upon your own interests and standards. Assertions are statements that you make based upon some evidence you have that will prove you correect. Becoming more aware of these communication actions and their distinctions will improve the foundation of any relationship you have. The first step is to listen more effectively. Do you listen to hear which action is being requested? What can you do to listen and communicate more effectively? Do you encourage a peaceful, hopeful, and a genuine spirit for listening when you communicate? Personal effectiveness is enhanced when you communicate effectively.
